System Administrator Required

CTI Digital are a software development company based in central Manchester looking for a Systems Administrator to join the expanding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining CTI’s internal infrastructure and will also help grow CTI’s hosting services.

You primary roles will include:

Setting up, monitoring and deploying websites to ‘optimized’ LAMP based systems
Management of the internal network, including servers, patching, staff computers
Recommending hosting solutions for our clients' specific requirements
Maintenance of existing hosting packages

The key skills required are:

Excellent initiative
Capacity and drive to strengthen existing skills and learn new things
In-depth knowledge of Apache, DNS, Mail
High capacity hosting infrastructure
MySQL administration
Experience with Nagios or other monitoring tools
OpenLDAP
Scripting
Vitalization
Puppet

Other desirables are:

Knowledge of Bacula backup daemon or alternatives
Knowledge of Nginx
Knowledge of Varnish
Apache Tomcat
Webistrano

CTI Digital are in the process of streamlining internal and hosting processes which we hope the right candidate can play a first part role in achieving. Centralised authentication using LDAP and PAM, server configuration using Puppet, monitoring using Nagios, backups using Bacula and automated site deployment are some of the things which you will be working on.

The ideal candidate is someone who will automate as much as possible day-to-day, leaving free time for R&D. You will know about problems before they happen because you have set up automated alerts to notify you something needs attention.
