First issue of Open Source Journal out, see CTI’s Drupal Article in print

I was recently asked to write a Drupal article for the new Open Source Journal publication which will be available from all Skills Matters and other training events in and around London as well as the rest of the UK.

I picked up my first printed copy yesterday and I must say the first set of articles make a interesting read from some very good authors. The Open Source Journal aims to be a quarterly publication with good peer reviewed articles written by people who are leaders in their field of technology.

The benefits of having a micro-site

A more and more popular thing in the business world is for brands to have sub brands, a good example of this is Adidas and Adidas Original, Quicksilver have Roxy and the whole of Virgin! Virgin is the perfect example of creating a brand and using it for many different purposes.

CTI Take On Mario

Most dev agencies probably use post-it notes for scrum boards or some kind of Agile project tracking system… The guys here however are far more creative and have found a much better use for the little multi coloured pieces of paper…

Presenting Grails Talk at Spring User Group Manchester 01/12/2009

I’ve been asked to present a talk at the Spring User Group Manchester event about our experiences of using grails on 01/12/2009 . Come along and say hello and ask any Grails questions, i'll try to answer as best as I can.

We have been using Grails in a limited capacity at CTI for the past 12 months but have now started to build our grails team after gaining experience and now starting to push Grails as our technology of choice.

Drupal Tips, Best Practices and Gotcha’s

It’s been a long time since I wrote my first blog post for CTI and I have been meaning to write more posts so thought it about time I add a new blog entry. I plan on doing a series of blog posts based on experience working on Drupal sites from 5 pages to large scale public sector sites and intranets. My first post of many on Drupal is something I see quite often on Drupal sites we have taken over from Developers who are not experienced in Drupal and is a bug bare of myne as it’s quite simple and makes life so much easier.

The rise of Ecommerce through the recent economic climate

According to several top economists, the financial crisis of 2007-2009 (also known as the credit crunch) is the worst of its kind since the Great Depression that spanned from the late 20s to the early 40s in some nations.  This was a period devastated by both World Wars and The Great Depression was a consequence of these.  Both rich and poor countries were affected by this as personal income, tax revenue, profits and prices dropped, with international trade plunging by half.  The United States were severely touched by unemployment which rose to 25

Look no further than Drupal for your CMS needs

Content Management Systems (CMS) are one of the most popular and useful tools in web development.  They ensure that once the CMS has been created, the people who will be in charge of the ongoing maintenance of the site will be able to do their jobs without being specialists.  This is a great tool as it means that you can now have a fully professional and functional web-site that your company will be able to update, modify and expand without necessarily having to employ a full time web specialist.

CTI return to the Northern Quarter

For those of you who didn't know, 2 years ago, our office was based on Dale Street where the well publicised Manchester Northern Quarter fire took place.  The fire started on the opposite side of the road on 30th April 2007 but unfortunately the wind blew the flames over to CTI's office on Dale Street.
